James Patrick Shea

James Patrick Shea has nearly 40  years of experience advising financial institutions, landlords, vendors, creditors' committees, debtors, bankruptcy trustees and other parties in business bankruptcy proceedings. Jim also advises clients in commercial litigation relating to other aspects of the debtor-creditor relationship, including the enforcement of their rights in liquidations, receiverships, litigation, and informal out-of-court workouts.

Jim is Nationally recognized in the field of commercial insolvency and reorganization. He is the former president, and past chairman of the board of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) https://abisupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204544775-What-is-the-American-Bankruptcy-Institute-ABI-. An ABI member since 1988, Jim has also served as ABl's Vice-President of Communications, Secretary, Vice-President of  Information Technology and as  the founding chair of ABl's Subcommittee on Gaming Insolvencies and Reorganizations. He serves as the chair of ABl's Civility Task Force and is a former program chair of ABl's Southwest Bankruptcy Conference. He is the founding, and current, chair  of the State Bar of Nevada's Bankruptcy Law Section and served as co-chair of the Ninth Circuit Lawyer Representatives for the District of Nevada and was elected to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference Executive Committee.

He has represented clients in significant hotel and casino bankruptcies including those filed by Landmark, Marina, Riviera, Baily's, Gold River, Stratosphere, Arizona Charlie's, Debbie Reynolds, Aladdin Hotel & Casino, Hooters Hotel & Casino, Stations Casinos, Fontainebleau ,and Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino. Jim has also handled high-profile bankruptcies in other industries involving such companies such as National Airlines, Sunworld Airlines, AgriBioTech, Mego Financial, Amerco (U-Haul), USA Capital, Pegasus Mining, Veris Gold, Fatburger, Vegas TV, Desert Land, Lake Las Vegas, Gump’s, Gypsum Mining, DC Solar, and Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

Bart K. Larsen

For over 15 years, Bart has primarily practiced in the areas of bankruptcy, commercial litigation, and commercial real estate where he has represented a wide range of local and national clients. He represents both creditors and debtors in all aspects of chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Bart also has considerable experience litigating complex UCC disputes and landlord-tenant issues. He played a key role in the drafting of Nevada’s first commercial leasing statute enacted in 2011 and has testified before the Nevada legislature several times concerning amendments to Nevada’s summary eviction and unlawful detainer statutes. Bart is also experienced in representing borrowers and lenders in foreclosures, loan restructurings, and lender liability litigation.

In addition to his bankruptcy and commercial litigation practices, Bart regularly represents real estate brokers, property managers, mortgage brokers, and other commercial lenders in licensing and compliance matters before the Nevada Real Estate Division, Nevada Mortgage Lending Division, and the Nevada Financial Institutions Division. Bart has also volunteered time to serve as counsel to non-profit organizations such as the Southern Nevada Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, and the Family and Child Treatment Center of Southern Nevada.

Kyle M. Wyant

Kyle M. Wyant is an associate who has years of experience in the areas of  complex commercial litigation, real estate, and personal injury during his career. Since joining Shea Larsen, Kyle has continued his practice in these areas as well as bankruptcy law, and continues to strive to achieve the best possible results he can for each client.  

Kyle graduated first in his class, summa cum laude from the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV in 2017, and has obtained many professional awards and recognitions. He received the James E. Rogers Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award and received the top grades in many of the classes he enrolled in while at Boyd. Kyle was also a member of the Boyd’s Moot Court Team and was an executive member of the UNLV Gaming Law Journal. Kyle has also been recognized as one of Legal Elite's Best Up & Coming Attorneys and is the author of legal publications.  Kyle honed his skills at some of the best law firms in Nevada before taking his experience to Shea Larsen.
